James Ferguson (25 May 1735 – 6 September 1820)[1][2] was a Scottish Tory[3] politician. He sat in the House of Commons of Great Britain from 1788 to 1800, and then in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom until his death in 1820.
He unsuccessfully contested Aberdeenshire at a by-election in 1786,[3] and was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Banffshire at a by-election in 1789,[4] holding that seat until 1790.[2] He was elected at the 1790 general election as MP for Aberdeenshire,[3] and held that seat until his death 30 years later.[1]
